LES GRANDES GRENACHIERES Rouge 2010 Note 95/100
Close in quality to the profound 2007 is 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Grandes Grenachieres d'Hippolyte. A stunning expression of old vine Grenache, it boasts abundant notes of raspberries, licorice and kirsch intermixed with hints of forest floor and underbrush. With good acidity, precision and freshness as well as a deep, fill-bodied, voluptuously textured mouthfeel, this superb example of old vine Grenache should drink well for 15+ years
LES GRANDES GRENACHIERES Rouge 2009 Note 93/100
"The 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Grandes Grenachieres d’Hippolyte (95% Grenache and 5% miscellaneous grapes, all aged one year in tank) is a brilliant expression of Grenache. Aromas of licorice, raspberries and black cherries are followed by a full-bodied, opulently textured, complex, generous wine that satisfies both the hedonistic and intellectual senses. It should drink well for at least a decade. This tiny 10-acre estate, run by Jean-Pierre Serguier, produces very good as well as reasonably priced wines. Their ancient vine cuvee, Les Grandes Grenachieres d’Hippolyte was first produced from 80-year-old vines in 2007 (and an amazing wine it is!). Not surprisingly, the 2010s reveal the paradoxical character of this vintage being high in acidity and fresh, but also possessing terrific ripeness, power, depth and intensity. It is an unusual vintage in that it has both high acidity and high alcohol, two characteristics normally not found together."

CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE Rouge 2011 Note (87-89)/100
Apparently the only offering in 2011 is the regular cuvee of Chateauneuf du Pape. This delicious effort reveals lots of up-front black currant and black cherry fruit, licorice and bouquet garni as well as an elegant, fresh, low acid, plump mouthfeel. It should drink well for 5-7 years.
